Mammals
Almost all the big animals, with whom one comes in contact in nature or in the zoo, are mammals. For sure, if they have hair, as only mammals have fur or hair.
What does the word mammal mean?
The word mammal comes from "suck". Because the mammalian mother forms ,milk as the first food for its children. This milk contains all important nutrients. The often blind and naked children only need to search nipples. On the other hand, in case of other animal groups, the newly born kids must eat the same things as their parents or look for their food themselves from the very beginning. Mammal mothers look after their offspring more than any other animal group. The children grow up well protected in their body and are born "living", not as eggs. They remain for weeks or month-long in motherly care until they are independent. Sometimes, like in case of humans, even many years. That has many advantages: the offspring are fed well, are protected, and in their youth they learn much from their parents. Mammals are especially intelligent. They can gain from the experiences of their parents and can adapt themselves more easily to the changed life circumstances or new sources of food than the other groups of animals.
